Beach Bunny shines a light onto the indie rock scene with upcoming album, “Tunnel Vision”
When it comes to a colorful vibrance shining in the indie rock scene, indie rock band Beach Bunny always comes to mind. The group has always made waves with the expansive collection of summery and playful tracks in their discography. The band certainly has kept busy the last few years with establishing their own Chicago festival “Pool Party” and opening for Melanie Martinez, leaving new music on the back burner while taking on these new exciting opportunities. After being taken to space with the extraterrestrial wonders of Emotional Creature back in 2022, fans were finally brought back to earth once Beach Bunny released their newest energetic anthem “Vertigo” back in June of last year. With the release of “Clueless” back in September, many speculated the next Beach Bunny project was on its way sometime in the near future.
Earlier this week, Beach Bunny confirmed that their third studio record Tunnel Vision will be released on April 25th. The announcement was shared alongside the release of the title track from the album, where lead singer Lili Trifilio expresses the guilt and hesitations of the struggles of not being able to “trust my own opinions / And my intuitions / Terrible at telling left and right / I never see the signs.” With powerfully introspective lyricism and brilliant beach rock instrumentation on each of the released singles, Tunnel Vision prepares to harness a cathartic release of the angst of growing older and navigating through the struggles of life.
While the wait for the release of the album certainly is giving us tunnel vision, the release of the record is surrounded by the band’s previously announced Tunnel Vision tour. Beach Bunny will race to 27 cities across North America with a wonderful selection of openers across the different dates, featuring math rock group Pool Kids, punk group Scarlet Demore, and indie artist Jayla Kai. The tour begins in April and ends in June, and you can check out the remaining selection of tickets here.
Alongside the three previously released singles, Beach Bunny has confirmed the 10-song track list of Tunnel Vision, including tracks like “Mr. Predictable,” “Pixie Cut,” and a reimagined version of Lili Trifilio’s solo track, “Cycles.” In “Vertigo,” the band speaks about how “I’ve got a strange obsession / Of mixing love and loss, but at what cost? / I’m protecting myself from emotional healing.” While the album will investigate the conflicting nature of this obsession, the album will definitely be the source of emotional healing for fans who have been waiting for new music for the past 3 years.
